Not big man on campus, but something else
Thirty-five years ago, Mark Schreiner and I were buddies at John Carroll University, a Jesuit college in suburban Cleveland. Then we were colleagues at Duke University for nearly 20.
Ealier this month, we drove to nearby Boone to hike and drink local beer. One night, we recorded our memories of JCU, how our careers intersected in North Carolina, and why we’ve kept our friendship strong all this time.
Here’s one part toward the end of our conversation. Mark has been in Toastmasters for decades and he works in radio now, so he speaks fluidly. I’m the opposite: I speak haltingly. (Hearing all my verbal tics makes me want to get a lot better at public speaking.)
Mark says some nice things about me, and he remembered my overalls and long hair. Thanks, Mark!
