Cleaned out the flower garden with its iris and peony, added zinnia, rhubarb, dahlia, and cana. This garden is in a perfect spot, with sun and water. Great placement by the family who built the house more than 50 years ago. My wife came by to pick me up for dinner, brought me a cold Fullsteam brew. Can’t wait to move up there next month when reno is done.
At work, I’m standing up a pilot of the Voices of Duke Health listening booth and podcast project, and on Fridays I test my equipment, try my voice through the microphone, and record a short message as a way to start building my audio skills.

Podcast recommendation: the Seeing White season of Scene on Radio by veteran radio journalist John Biewen. Very enlightening and informative exploration of race, history, whiteness, and the ills of manifest destiny.
There’s a spiffy new website for The Monti, a storytelling organization here in North Carolina that celebrated 10 years of live storytelling with a splendid show last night. Kudos to Jeff Polish and the 1000 storytellers who have entertained us through the years.
Haven’t run or played soccer in two months now. Missing the Tar Heel 10 Miler tomorrow morning. Feeling very out of condition. Damn this sports hernia.

Dropped some dough on a couple of used lenses at the local camera shop.
