Along the gravel drive
Antoinette Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
New idea.
I’ve just stepped out of my studio office.
I affectionately call it Studio B because Erin’s cousin Bridget owns this little studio office, and she allows me to use it for my work.
Just stepped out of it.
I’m walking back to our house, which is, oh, about 200 yards down the gravel drive, and I’m using the Wavelength 2.0 app.
And I wondered if I might record a short podcast episode every day, once a day, walking on this gravel path, a thought of the day, an observation.
Maybe I’ll just pause and let the bugs and birds and other sounds that are filtering through the tall oak trees and pine trees and other growth here in this forest that we live in.
Kind of a cool thing.
Not sure that anyone will want to listen to it, but it would be a good way for me to practice my speaking and my ability to slow down, look around, listen, smell, feel, and just enjoy the pace of the day.
It’s kind of nice being able to walk from the office to the house.
I have to do that to use the restroom or to get lunch, and it just gets me out of the air conditioning into the forest and often disconnected.
I try not to use my phone and look at things.
I like to look around, and of course I’m always looking for turtles and, depending on the time of day, for the coyote or the raccoon or the possum or the woodpeckers or the owls or the hawks and other things that we see.
So, as you can see, I can walk and talk.
Sound of gravel underneath my Adidas Samba shoes, and I’ve spoken for two and a half minutes.
I think that’s enough for first day.
Thanks.
Have a great day.
