Anton Zeiker here in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on Tuesday, August 25th, 2026.

Just after noon, I have not walked down the gravel path toward the house.

I’ve stopped here at the storage shed and am taking a look at some of the boards that we’ve milled and cut and stored.

I have a friend coming over to advise me on building a table or two.

It’s a beautiful day, sunny, sunshine filtering through the canopy of the tall oak and pine and maple trees.

Can hear the cicadas up above and the tree company grinding branches in the next neighborhood over.

Air is cool and still.

Just a beautiful day.

It’s great to be alive.

Great to be here.
